Apple opened a store in Bellevue Square. It's not one of the big 'flagship' style places, but looks rather like The Gap for computers. All those shiny machines make me want to buy something. Argh... must resist the evil temptation.... don't need dual 1.42 Ghz PowerMac. I'll give in just as soon as my wife allows me.
Anybody else out there playing with SyncML?
I have several devices with contacts, calendars, web favorites, etc. running several different operating systems. Wouldn't it be great to sync seamless between them all? Not like I'm the first to suggest it. Why aren't we seeing more SyncML toolkit apps? I guess I'll check out Sync4J. Anybody know anything about it?
The New iTunes is great. I just purchased a couple new Eminem songs for $1.98. and transferred them to my iPod. In my opinion, Apple got it right. I can't stand the Windows Media Player interface with its amazing complexity. I don't want or need all that. I want simple, direct access to my music library and the ability to easily add to it, one song at a time. Again, amazing.
Everybody knows now about the DARPA grant that OpenBSD recently lost. I subscribe to a grass roots approach to showing displeasure. Since OpenBSD 3.3 was just released, I'm buying copies of the CD's and t-shirts for all my friends. It gets money in the coffers of the project, gets more advertisement on the streets and let's a few of us thumb our collective noses at our government's conduct. Act here, Buy OpenBSD
I'm interested in hearing from others about what grass roots techno-organizations are worthy. EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) is on my list as well.
